Many of the lakes in the Bemidji area have 8-10” of ice but there is some slush underneath the snow on some of the lakes. A few folks are using ATV’s and snowmobiles to get out to spots but no one is driving vehicles yet.
Normally this time of year, Lake Bemidji sees many fish houses. However, weather conditions have made it a challenge, but with this recent cold weather hopefully we will see conditions improve.
Look to some of the smaller panfish lakes in the area for crappies and bluegills. Small jigs and plastics, wax worms, or minnows are producing some fish. Lake Irving is kicking out some walleyes and perch on jigging spoons and minnow heads. Have a safe and fun day on the ice and please remember to practice selective harvesting, by doing so we will continue to have great fishing for years to come!
