The Beltrami County Historical Society will host Train Days 2026 on April 11 and 12 at the Beltrami County History Center, 130 Minnesota Ave. SW, Bemidji.
Train Days will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 12. The event will feature model railroads in multiple scales, including an expansive LEGO city and railroad displays.
Visitors may also tour the X259 caboose, a restored 1948 artifact from the Great Northern Railway that offers a glimpse into the golden age of American rail travel. Additional fun includes model train vendors, railroad-themed souvenirs and gifts, train videos, and activities for littles throughout the weekend.
Founded in 1985, the Northern Iron Horse Railroad Society has long served as a gathering place for regional train enthusiasts. The club, which meets in the basement of the Beltrami County History Center, has evolved over the decades from informal gatherings in coffee shops to the construction of a permanent model railroad layout. Members have spent years expanding and refining their display, often enjoying the camaraderie of working together as much as the trains themselves.
Railroad enthusiasts of all ages are encouraged to participate in this year’s coloring contest. Coloring pages are available in the Bemidji Pioneer, Buyline, and at the History Center. Entries turned in by April 6 will be displayed during Train Days and will be eligible for prizes. No purchase is required to participate.
Admission for Train Days is $7 for adults, $5 for veterans, senior citizens, and tribal members, and $3 for students in kindergarten through college. BCHS members and SNAP recipients receive free admission.
