First Friday Art Walk
The First Friday Art Walk is a night for art lovers to enjoy art, food, literary and musical entertainment. It’s a relaxed atmosphere of coming and going, mixing and mingling over art while enjoying complimentary refreshments. Quietly peruse the newly placed exhibitions, throughout downtown Bemidji’s restaurants, libraries, schools, and businesses, or take the opportunity to talk to the exhibiting artists about their work…all within walking distance of the Watermark Art Center.
May’s exhibits include:
Dunn Brothers Coffee – Featuring artist Kierlyn Ward’s watercolor set of various hair styles in a pseudo-mosaic fashion. Exhibit is open 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. and is located at 501 Paul Bunyan Dr SE.
Wild Hare Bistro and Coffeehouse – Pine to Prairie Fiber Arts Trail Member Exhibit thru May 28. This popular exhibit features fiber artists Stephanie Showalter, Carrie Jessen, Kristin Majkrzak, Eve Sumsky, Shannon Lucas-Westrum, Karen-lisa Forbes, Patty Lovegreen and Bonnie Lundorff. Exhibit is open 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located at 523 Minnesota Ave.
Neilson Place Featuring Bob Panther, photographer. Exhibit is open 8 am – 8 pm. and is located on the Sanford WoodsEdge campus, 1000 Anne Street NW.
Bemidji Library – Featuring Grace Garland’s oil and watercolor paintings. No reception. Exhibit is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is located at 509 America Ave NW.
Gallery North – Showcasing artist Charles Alberti, displaying 50 paintings of his heart design collection called “All You Need Is Love.” Exhibit is open 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. and is located at 310 4th St NW.
NWICDC – Northwest Indian Community Development Center will host nine local vendors from 3-7 p.m. Come see a variety of art mediums created by local artisans. NWICDC is located at 1819 Bemidji Ave N.
Watermark Art Center will be hosting their event on Second Saturday this month! Join us for the opening reception of the 5th Grade Invitational featuring local youth from area schools, Kelliher, LaPorte, Apple Blossom, St. Philips and Schoolcraft. Exhibit runs May 4th – May 25th. Reception May 11th from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. at 505 Bemidji Ave N.
