 Explore and enjoy the beauty of the lakes and forests in the Bemidji area.  

Lake Bemidji State Park offers paved trails as well as mountain bike loops. 
An eight-mile stretch of paved trail is adjacent to the park, crosses the
Mississippi River and connects to a route that circles Lake Bemidji. 
Mountain bikers will find lots of trails of varying terrain through state forests
and on old logging roads. 
 
Paul Bunyan Trail
The Paul Bunyan Recreational Corridor Trail is located between Bemidji and Brainerd, Minnesota.  It is a multi use recreational system, with summer use for biking, roller blading and walking. Winter use for snowmobiling. Trailhead begins at Lake Bemidji State Park.  Arguably the most scenic sections of the 110 mile trail as it winds through the forested State Park, crosses the Mississippi River and skirts the Lake Bemidji shoreline.
AREA TRAILS
Paul Bunyan Trail Trail head in Lake Bemidji State Park (vehicle permit required.)  Beautiful wooded, winding trail to scenic railbed section that crosses the Mississippi River as it exits Lake Bemidji. Paved trail skirts shoreline and crosses through the city to continue south to Baxter/Brainerd.  110 miles total length. Parking & access options along trail.
Loop the Lake Trail 14 Miles, partial trail, mostly paved road with shoulder,
 Parking area at TIC.
Itasca State Park 16 Miles, All paved.  Trails and scenic drive route, rentals, 
park permit required.
Movil Maze 8 miles of winding, hilly forested terrain. Mountain bike this and other XC ski trails.  
NEW 2010! Single-track trail!  First phase about 2 mile loop.

Mi-Gi-Zi Trail 14 mile paved loop around Pike Bay.  12 miles W of Bemidji, through lush forest.  Parking Area.
Chippewa National Forest 160 Miles, Mountain bike trails through forest/lake areas.

River Trail
Still under development: The Mississippi River Trail (MRT) is a world-class bicycling route that travels from the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Lake Itasca, Minnesota to the Delta at the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana. It is a 3,000-mile system of bicycle-friendly roads and multi-use pathways connecting 10 states, the cities of Minneapolis, St. Louis, Memphis and New Orleans, and hundreds of smaller towns along the way. The MRT is a unique way to experience the Mississippi River’s natural wonders, transportation system, recreational facilities and cultural heritage.
