Red Lake Reservation Leech lake Reservation
The Red Lake Indian Reservation covers 1,258.62 square miles in parts of nine counties.  The largest section is centered around Red Lake, the largest lake that is entirely within one state.  It is home to the Red Lake Band of Ojibwe.  It is the only closed reservation in the state. Pow Wows Known as Gaa-zagaskwaajimekaag in the Ojibwe language, the Leech Lake Reservation is located in four counties.  It is the largest reservation in the state by number of residents.  It is the second-largest in terms of land area, with the White Earth Reservation larger.  Most of the land is the Chippewa National Forest.  Pow Wows
White Earth Reservation  
Known as Gaa-waakabiganikaag Anishinaabeg, the White Earth Reservation was formed from the unification of Ojibwe bands displaced from the northern part of the state.  The reservation was formed in 1868 after a treaty was arranged between the Minnesota Chippewa Bands and the United States the previous year.
